Coldstream Hills was established in 1985 by James and Suzanne Halliday and has since grown to become one of Australia's leading and most awarded small wineries. Situated in the picturesque Yarra Valley east of Melbourne, the steep close-planted vineyards of Coldstream Hills have become a signature of the region. So too have its wines, which reflect regional character, consistency, and style. Sourced from low yielding vineyards in the Upper and Lower Valley, all fruit is selectively picked prior to its delivery into the winery. The Lower Yarra provides dark cherry notes and structure, the Upper Yarra complements with elegance, spice, and perfume.
The wine is made using a variety of handling and fermentation techniques, including the use of whole bunches. Each batch is then matured in seasoned and new oak for up to nine months, prior to blending and bottling.

Fragrant sour and black cherry with savoury graphite overtones, raspberry and cedary oak.
Ripe and powerful with silky texture and a fine-grained tannin finish. Savoury cherry dominates with underlying strawberry and raspberry characters underpinned by hints of fragrant whole bunch spice, harmonious oak and mineral graphite overtones.

Cooler than Bordeaux yet warmer than Burgundy, picturesque Yarra Valley is one of Australia's foremost cool-climate wine regions. An easy one-hour’s drive from Melbourne, the area is home to more than 80 cellar doors. In addition to the huge range of wineries, the area boasts superb contemporary restaurants, authentic rustic farms - and luxury overnight accommodation if the sightseeing gets too much! The fertile Yarra Valley soils produce famously elegant and textured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Generally warm conditions leading up to flowering, with some late November rain occurring after fruit set. A warm and dry period ensued with one of the earliest starts to harvest on record. The wines produced are flavoursome and generous, with fine acidity and length.
